The opening night for the City of Fort Morgan Thursday Night Live Summer Concert Series drew a large crowd at Glenn Miller Park on Thursday. The highlight of the evening, the Platte Valley Band, kicked off the season by playing 50 summer movie-themed songs from the 1930s to the 2020s.

B106's Alec Creighton emceed the event and entertained the crowd throughout the evening with TNL T-shirt giveaways, Nuggets game updates, and several chances to win a prize.

If you played Plinko during the evening, you earned a ticket to play B106's version of Let's Make a Deal for a $25, $50, $75, or $100 gift card. Gabriel Vega was one of the lucky contestants and did the chicken dance to trade in his prize and won a $100 gift card for Bicycle Adventure and a TNL T-shirt.

Another feature during the evening was taking your picture with the new Glenn Miller picture frame. Everyone was encouraged to upload their picture on Facebook and tag the TNL or B106 Facebook page.

The free event was a great way for the community to come together and enjoy a night of fun. Food trucks from Pabst German Pockets, Tipsy Cow Wagon, Wing N It, and Freddie's New York Hotdogs had lines throughout the evening, and several vendor booths set up throughout the park were offering a variety of items. The free bouncy house and chalk art were a big hit with the kids.

Ginny Brungardt was out with her granddaughter Jennifer and great-granddaughters, Lillian and Morgan.

"We came out for the music and to enjoy the nice weather," she said.

Even though the rain came later in the event, it didn't dampen spirits for some. Several people stayed behind with umbrellas or took cover in the gazebo to listen to the band.

You can enjoy the TNL Summer Concert Series on Thursdays through Aug. 10. You can visit the official TNL Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TNLFORTMORGAN or the B106 Facebook page for TNL updates at https://www.facebook.com/B106radio.
